If you have never been on a cruise before, you may not know what to expect. Cruise vacations are much different than other types of vacations in that you are basically on a floating city that offers you everything in one convenient location. Your accommodations, dining, activities and all other aspects of your vacation are all literally within walking distance and much of the cost is included in your initial price. The question for many is what to pack and what to expect once you arrive. Below are a few tips on travel by liner from Bill Bailey. Enjoy your next cruise and be prepared with these great tips to you from Bill Bailey, your travel consultant.
Tips From Bill Bailey On How To Pack For Your Cruise
Making sure you have everything for your trip is an important part of the vacation itself, and taking a cruise is no different. Make sure you have everything you need before you leave for your next cruise.
What to Bring –
- Camera and film as it costs more on board so this will save you money
- Binoculars
- Travel guidebooks or smart phone apps about your destination and ports-of-call
- Prescription medications
- Sturdy walking shoes for every day use
- Personal electrical appliances, such as shavers, hairdryers, irons, steamers, curling irons etc. that are compatible with the ship’s electrical current. ( you should be fine onboard ships from the US, but European ships may have a different current)
- A travel alarm clock (although wake-up calls are offered on all The Cruise Line cruises)
- A lightweight, waterproof coat or jacket, as well as a sweater or warm vest
What to expect –
Check in will be preboarding including checking your luggage and going through a scanner or metal detector. Once you are onboard, you will be greeted with a map. You will want to find your cabin right away. If you need help, there will be attendants to assist you. Your room will be small, however, you will most likely not be spending much time there, so don’t worry.
You will want to carry your map with you at all times as these ships are usually quite large. You will find everything you need onboard including many food choices, lots of activities, events and shows as well as sports and recreation areas. A cruise ship is really a floating city and all you expect from a city you can most generally find onboard.
You can expect to enjoy many wonderful experiences and depending on what your ship is known for, you can expect that it will be what you are looking for. If you enjoy gambling, look into a ship that has a casino onboard. Likewise if you prefer water sports and recreational opportunities, many ships cater to this as well.
No matter what you choose, you can expect that this will certainly be different from any other vacation you have ever experienced.
