Foodie Fun in Los Angeles

Los Angeles, California has a lot to offer foodies.

Whether you are seeking the perfect spot for a sit-down brunch or a quick spot to grab food on the run, you have a plethora of places from which to choose in L.A. Here are a couple of spots to hit to get an authentic Los Angeles food experience.

Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles

Though they did not invent the combination of chicken and waffles as a culinary pairing, Roscoe’s is one of the most famous restaurants associated with the dish. The chain has made appearances in movies, in television shows and has been mentioned in rap songs and made reference to in other pop culture. The chain has had its share of controversy over the years and recently filed for bankruptcy but for now, all locations are open and awaiting your arrival. If you hit up the Hollywood location you can expect a wait as the lines are usually out the door and down the block. That being said, it is well worth it to wait for a table, you will not be disappointed.

Taco Trucks

It does not matter where you are or what name is on the truck. If you see a taco truck in Los Angeles, get out your money and get yourself a taco. As pizza is to New York and Chicago, the taco truck is to Los Angeles. Do not expect to find fancy toppings or pretentious names for your order, most of the trucks will offer you beef, chicken or pork with a bit of salsa, cilantro, and onion. Move beyond that and you will lose the essence and the experience of enjoying one of these awesome tacos and the real start of Los Angeles.

Flore Vegan Cuisine

If you are a fan of tacos but not of meat, head on over to Flore Vegan Cuisine and try one of their Jicama tacos or their Southwestern seitan quesadillas. Their spin on these classic meat dishes is just the tip of what they have to offer nonmeat eaters on their menu. Breakfast is served until 1 pm daily and includes veggie frittatas, tofu scrambles, and griddle cakes. If you are looking for lunch, try one of their signature salads or take a tour of the tempeh meatloaf burger or Reuben. There is also a selection of dessert options available, including their spin on the classic strawberry shortcake.
